Shibuya Marble Texture RPG is a free adventure video game wherein you must hunt down your old enemy. Developed by ecorust9, this 2D pixelated indie game is a fan-made game for the Hypnosis Mic multimedia series and features characters and other assets from it to present an original game experience.

Similar to a pet shop after dark, Shibuya Marble Texture RPG is played in the visual novel format but also allows you to control a miniature character sprite to explore areas, solve puzzles, and progress through the story. However, you need to install a specific program first to play this.

World domination through sick beats

Hypnosis Mic: Division Rap Battle—also known as “HypMic”—is a Japanese multimedia project by King Records under their Evil Line Records music label. It features eighteen voice actors who play as fictional rappers, with their own backstories and discographies. The success of the franchise—thanks to the fandom’s love of the character designs and soundtrack hits—eventually spawned other media such as manga adaptations, a mobile game, and even an anime.

Thus, as with any popular media, it also garnered some fan-made creations. One of these is Shibuya Marble Texture RPG, an indie fangame that lets you play as some of the characters from the project. Specifically, you get to play the whole Fling Posse team. You will also be encountering the members of Matenro—and that’s why the game’s title is a reference to their collab song “Shibuya Marble Texture -PCCS-”.

Gameplay-wise, the controls are easy to follow. However, it’s highly recommended that you first install RTP for RPG Maker 2000 in order to properly play this game. Once you’re ready, though, you can enjoy the game via two game modes: the main Color Mode and the retro GAMEBOY mode. Plus, you can battle characters as you explore the map. Take note that there’s some mature content here, though.

Can’t be played alone

All in all, Shibuya Marble Texture RPG is a nice little parody game to try out if you happen to be a fan of the Hypnosis Mic story. Not only does it feature cute graphics and an 8-bit soundtrack, but it also plays out in two different modes to let you choose your experience. However, it’s dependent on another program in order to function properly.
